#1 Whyte&Co bailiff visit treathening they willcome back with a locksmith

Post by Marcus » 26 Jul 2017 13:10

Hi,

I had a visit from a Whyte&Co bailiff this morning regarding unpaid council tax. I didn't let him in and refused to open the door. He insisted he wants to talk and I have to open the door- which I didn't. He then threatened that he will come back with a locksmith. Can he actually do that? I do understand that the council tax I owe must be paid and I am responsible for that, but feel a intimidated by this guy, I am at home with a one year old and worried they will force entry. Please advice what should I do. I have not made any arrangements and have not let anybody in from this company. Any advice would be great.

No, he cannot use a locksmith if he doesn't have a controlled goods agreement. Make a complaint to the council.

Write to the council inviting them to contact you to set up a repayment plan once the bailiff has returned the case back to council administration.

Do you think the bailiff will return the case to the council? Am I obliged to talk to the bailiff at all?

You are not obliged to deal with a bailiff. He will eventually return the case back to the council when he gets tired of knocking your door.
