Fine and Collection Order - HMRC
Fine and Collection Order - HMRC
I would really appreciate any help you can offer. I have received a Notice of Fine and Collection Order for failing to deliver an annual return, the sum is £495. This is for a dormant company that I opened and have never operated, I didn't know you had to file accounts for a company that has no transactions at all. All that said, I am unable to pay. The letter lists various threats including imprisonment. Can you please advise on the best thing for me to do? The letter offers no mention of who the monies are owed to or who has brought the case but I presume it is HMRC. Thank you in advance.

It might be an automated fine from HMRC. You need to speak to an expert in company law and taxation to find out whether the fine is real, and if it is, then whether you can appeal.
